Lgbtqia Is An Acronym For Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Queer Intersex And Asexual People

What does LGBTQIA+ mean?

LGBTQIA+ is an acronym for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and asexual people.

It is also an umbrella term for people who identify as anything other than heterosexual or cisgender.

The term LGBTQIA+ was first used in the 1990s to include bisexual and transgender people in the acronym LGBT. Intersex and asexual people were added to the acronym in the early 2000s, and the plus sign (+) is now used to represent other identities that fall under the LGBTQIA+ umbrella.

LGBTQIA+ people are often marginalized and discriminated against because of their sexual orientation or gender identity. However, there has been a growing movement in recent years to fight for LGBTQIA+ rights and equality.

LGBTQIA+ people are an important part of our society, and they deserve to be treated with respect and dignity.
