Christian dies at 80: Tributes pour in for 'larger than life' showbiz legend
Tributes are pouring in for Scottish singing and pantomime legend Chris McClure, known by his stage name Christian, who has died aged 80.
The much-loved entertainer performed his final show in front of a packed audience just two days before he passed away in his sleep.
Christian's death has shocked the Scottish showbiz world, with many taking to social media to express their sadness and pay tribute to the 'larger than life' star.
First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said she was "deeply saddened" by the news, describing Christian as "a true Scottish icon." She added: "His unique talent and larger-than-life personality brought joy to so many people over the years."
Fellow entertainer Elaine C Smith said she was "heartbroken" by Christian's death, calling him "a true gent and a wonderful friend." She added: "He will be greatly missed by all who knew him."
Christian's family said in a statement: "We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Chris McClure, known to the world as Christian.
"He died peacefully in his sleep on [date], just two days after performing his final show in front of a packed audience. He was surrounded by his family and friends."
